I recommend them because Dan handled my case perfectly. After all, I still have a great relationship with my children.
I was ending my employment overseas and returning home, so my material status was changing. Per my legal agreement, I would have to reassess my ex-wife's payments, and I needed to engage with a lawyer to get this through the courts. I didn't want to use a local lawyer and had heard good things about the Family Law Group.
It becomes stressful whenever you go to court or deal with the Legal Society of Canada because the laws are very biased to a certain degree, and I knew that going into this. I talked to a few people and did a little research, and the Family Law Group seemed very reputable, so I decided to try them.
I liked Dan right off the bat. I could tell he was a genuine man, and he was honest and fair. He told me right off the bat that if I lied to him, he was done. And it set the tone from the start. I had nothing to hide, and It was all upfront. But I gave him a lot of credit when he said, "You lie once we're done." And I said, "Perfect. You're my man."
They were very upfront. They gave me the best-case scenario and worst-case scenario all through the process. Dan would always consult with me by saying, "If we don't do this and we do go this way, this is what the repercussions will be. But if you do it this way and we do it that way, you're going to come up with the desired result. I always felt Dan had my best interest at hand, and he knew where I came from and my expectations.
He did all the legwork and sent me condensed documents. I could easily review the spreadsheets and the numbers made sense to me. If I had a query or felt we should approach it differently, I'd throw it back to him. He'd massage whatever he was writing, put it back to me, and if I agreed, I would say yes, we're good to go, and off it went.
I received a fair outcome based on the current laws. Dan did manage to get some other positive things for me, which was good. I recommend them because Dan handled my case perfectly. After all, I still have a great relationship with my children.
