My marriage broke down, and I needed some help negotiating a separation. It was the hardest thing I've ever done, with finances being the most significant stress.
I had a consultation with another law firm and did not like that experience. While talking to some friends, one of them recommended the Family Law Group. I looked them up, phoned, and spoke to the receptionist about my scenario. They recommended a few different lawyers at the firm, and then I picked my lawyer. My interactions were incredible. It was a night and day difference between the other firm I first talked to. I have only good things to say.
My consultation with her was phenomenal. She was willing to listen without judgment. She's an excellent active listener. She asked many questions to understand my needs and to see how they could best help me.
Everything was very clear right from the first call. My lawyer understood the situation and could walk me through various scenarios which made sense. She was confident, and it was apparent she knew what she was doing.
On a personal level, I could see her and me being friends outside of a professional relationship. My lawyer is compassionate, honest, and kind, but she didn't tell me what I wanted to hear. She told me what I needed to know, but she did that carefully.
Everything was done virtually, and I only talked to Megan or Liz on the phone for a couple of minutes. Most of it was by email. The communication was very good, very clear, and fairly quick.
We eventually negotiated an agreement, which is good. It took a couple of mediation sessions, but we got there. It was a huge sigh of relief. So they are definitely worth it. It seemed like an awful lot of money at the time, but there was a lot of legal expertise and a lot of action happening that I needed that I couldn't do by myself. They were very professional and did it very well. So it was money well spent.
Some keywords that I would use to describe them would be compassionate, empathetic, knowledgeable, and professional. If you have a family law-related issue, phone them to ask questions and ensure they're the right fit. They have quite a few lawyers there with somewhat different specialties, so they would be able to find the right lawyer for you.
