I didn't feel like it was just about a dollar sign with her. I was a human being to her. That's very important, especially when it comes to family law and people going through separations because it's not easy.
I decided to retain a lawyer because my husband and I felt the appropriate next step was to separate. I was worried about how this would affect my and the kids' lifestyles and wanted to make sure I was going to be protected. That's why I decided to seek legal counsel to ensure we would be taken care of financially.
I had a neighbour who also went through a divorce, and his ex-wife had used Brenda Barr and said she was a very good lawyer, so I reached out to the Family Law Group.
During the consultation, they provided an abundance of information. I had many questions, and they answered every question and then some. I immediately felt like they knew what they were doing. They were very thorough with their line of questioning, explaining their job and laying out everything for me.
My lawyer was wonderful. She dealt with me with a lot of empathy, and she could understand my situation was very precarious. She has young kids, so I could relate to her, and it was a wonderful experience. I felt I was a human being, not a number.
They were incredible with their turnaround times, and they were very available. My lawyer was definitely working for me. If I needed something answered, they were very prompt in getting back to me via email, etc.
I wanted primary custody and got it, as well as child support. The Family Law Group was great, and I found them quite reasonably priced. They had a good range, from junior associates to senior lawyers.
