I left with the custody agreement and financial agreement that I was hoping for.
Client: Everything is pretty much settled at this point. I was able to finalize the separation in April and able to take over ownership of the existing home, and buy him out. We now have a separation agreement, so we both are tied to that, which is good. Did it change the relationship and improve my relationship with my ex-husband? Slightly, now that things are done, it's an uphill battle.
Interviewer: Is this the outcome that you were hoping for when you first decided to look for a law firm?
Client: Absolutely. Yeah. It could have gone a lot worse. I was really fearful that the home was the biggest thing. And the value of the home and the value of the house at the separation date. As the housing market constantly changed throughout our process, I was fearful that I was going to lose the home and not have a place to live. And being able to keep the house, and this is the home that my children have always known, not having to uproot them, is the best result.
Client: I would say definitely go that route. If you have an ex-spouse who is uncooperative and doesn't like to follow steps, they're the firm you'd want to use, especially if something were to go to court. Is it expensive? Yeah, it is. I think you have to weigh your options out there to figure out if something is agreeable or not. I think I would have liked to go the route of mediation, but after seeing the way my ex started to work towards things with the lawyer, I knew that I had to stay the course that I was going.

Client: Like just complete relief being able to plan out my future and have a safe and secure home for my children. I didn't realize that my kids were so heavily impacted by the unknown of the house, and once that happened, there was an immense relief from them.
