You can say it's more word of mouth that put Family Law Group into the equation.

I was constantly researching. Any free moment that I had. Before the marriage was over, I tried to get counselling done. To see the things that I could adjust or do. Then, of course, when you see the writing on the wall, it's going in a downward fashion... Trying to see what is allowed, what isn't allowed, and what to expect.
As a parent, as a divorcing woman. All those types of things. What were the laws or what's been found in Ontario to what's normal? What are my expectations and all sorts of things? Sometimes, you feel a little bit obsessive with trying to solve problems. You just want to solve problems, and you can't. So yes, lots of research, questions, and self-bargaining. Trying to figure out how to get out of this minimally scathed and keep my child safe. I'm not going to lie I was very stressed. There was lots of emotion. It certainly took a toll on my health. But it's one of the things that's part of my life that's over.
I work with a family business, and my original lawyer was found through a law firm that they dealt with. It was a referral within a larger firm. I was concerned about the nature of my ex-husband's job at the time. He had made suggestions prior to our separation that he was going to move to a different province. So, lots of things were on my mind. I was getting thrown in lots of directions. I wanted to make sure that I had representation that would have offices in different places. So, it was a larger firm that I went with at first. They had a family lawyer on staff, and I dealt with her at the beginning.
I had value in the person who was giving me the information about somebody at the Family Law Group. I translated successful and nice people tend to be around other successful and nice people. So that was a motivator as well. You can say it's more word of mouth that put Family Law Group into the equation.
I checked out lots of websites, including the Family Law Group's. Read reviews. When it came to reading reviews, I liked that there were some consistent themes they'd say, "Well, it's not cheap." But the common theme was that they seemed fair. That they worked really hard to achieve their goals. Or at least goals in common for getting resolutions. The words fair and achieve were kind of recurring themes. I had more of an affinity for that because I just wanted to get things resolved. I want to be fair, and I want to move on. I just wanted to move forward. If I could get somebody to help me do that, that's what I was looking for.
