I can compare the differences between when I thought I was getting stuff accomplished and when I actually was getting stuff accomplished. It's a big difference.

I would encourage them to at least get a consult. Because then they'd have the opportunity to see how down-to-earth and frank they are. Especially if you've gone through a relationship or marriage where you have to deal with a lot of BS, it's refreshing to not be BS'd. Even if I don't like it, I'd rather have the truth.
Communication was the best thing. And the motivation or the encouragement. They're not like cheerleaders. It's just nudges or reminders. Not that I really needed a lot of them, but there were some very pivotal ones. You think maybe you can just let it go, and it's not that important, but it is. You've negotiated. You've gotten to this point, so don't let it go. I think that the communication and the assistance through the process that I went through, the firm as a whole, was very, very helpful.
When I got to see her and work with her in person, I felt like I had a really strong individual with me. Somebody that was well put together, well-informed and well-prepared. That in and of itself helps you feel stronger in these situations. To be with somebody that is a strong person.
