If I would have had Brenda right from the beginning, I think we would have been in a totally different situation.

Personally, if I had to do it all over again, I probably wouldn't have. Right? I wouldn't have gone through and held out for eight years. But you get in so deep, and you've spent so much money that I couldn't give up because I knew that at the end, I should win, so it would be a wash, and luckily, it went that way. But I'm sure there's tons of people who just keep going and going and going, and at some point, you're like, God, how much more money do you throw at something? So, I think people have to be very clear at knowing that you can get in deep very quickly, so reassess your situation to see if it's worth it, whatever you're fighting about.
I learned so much just about the court system and the general public are afraid of the courts, but lawyers aren't afraid of the courts. So, me being on my side and him being a lawyer, of course, he's comfortable in a courtroom. He doesn't get anxious or stressed out, whereas I'm like, oh, my God, I'm gonna lose the kids or whatever. Whereas if I had known what I know now, I would have just fought him harder and said, you're not taking the kids. The kids are old enough to decide what they want to do. And I would have stood that ground more and then not let it get so far. You learn so much, and you don't know what you don't know.
I was shocked by the whole thing and was in shock for the first initial few months of what was happening. So, I think that's also what clouded my judgment, is the fear of so much unknown. And if I would have just known that and if I would have had Brenda right from the beginning, I think we would have been in a totally different situation.
Yeah, I wish I would have just had Brenda right from the beginning because I think it would have just been done a lot sooner and would have been better.
And at the end of the day, it was basically a wash for the amount of money you spend on lawyers. And what he ended up having to pay just basically almost paid off the debt of using the lawyers in the first place. So, it's all kind of a waste of time. So, it's not like you get a settlement, and it's like, yay, we got something, and the kids will have a small down payment for a house. No, it's just this is going to pay the debt off that it costs to have lawyers fight this nonsensical.
