Hindsight
What I've been doing with my ex-wife for years now is kid gloves.

The only thing that would surprise me is how aggressive they could be on my behalf without creating a larger issue.
I figured everybody likes to play with kid gloves. Because to be honest with you, that's what I've been doing with my ex-wife for years now is kid gloves. Don't want to stir the pot. Keep everything happy-go-lucky. And I figured it would be the same approach in a family law situation.
But they were exactly what they needed to be when presented with whatever situation was put in front of them. With me, they were understanding, collaborative, and all that stuff. With the other side, when they started to try to make it a bigger issue, they were aggressive and direct and showed them the path that this could go down if they were continuing in the direction they were hinting they were going to.
So how they handled that situation would definitely not be, in my experience, how I would've handled it. But they recommended that we go this route, made me understand why, did it, and it worked a hundred percent.
That approach definitely surprised me a bit, but It just leads me back to thinking that you just have to trust the lawyer you're dealing with is going to handle your situation to the best of their ability. And trust them to do the job that you paid them for. I had a hard time letting go of control of the situation, but I'm very happy that I did.
