See if we could seek some financial compensation for the length of time that he lived with his partner.

Interviewer: What happened with your brother in order for him to need the services of a lawyer?
Client: He ended up having lived with somebody for ten-plus years, and then they became separated, and we had his power of attorney because he's got a mental disability, and my sister and I had power of attorney for him. And so we decided that once he separated from his partner, we thought it would be the proper way to go and seek some financial compensation since he was on disability. And he'd been with his partner for over ten years.
Client: It was certainly a difficult time. So he came to us 14 months ago with lots of problems that we didn't know existed, mostly financial problems.
Client: Part of it was to work through a lot of financial issues, and part of that obviously became clear that we needed to see if we could seek some financial compensation for the length of time that he lived with his partner. Since he became disabled when he was living with his partner, we thought it'd be the right way to go and see if we could get some compensation for the length of time that he and his partner lived together. It's been a long haul, but I think we've cleaned up a lot of hurdles since then.
Client: You get something thrown like that in your lap, and you're certainly not sitting around waiting for it, but we took it on, and he's got some good friends as well that really helped out, and all of us together got him back on track, and he's on a better path than he was before.
